How can a tiny wall be such a major pain in the crumpets for our Windham, New Hampshire kitchen remodel clients? Simply said, this family loves to entertain. At any given gathering you may find 30 to 40 guests mingling, sipping a glass of wine paired with the homeowner’s favorite homemade appetizers. However, the small outdated kitchen with limited counter space, and dividing wall between the kitchen/dining area, prevented the hosts from fully enjoying the company of their guests. It was time for a much-needed change.
By adding a structural support at the kitchen entrance disguised as beautiful custom column, we were able to accomplish our clients number one design objective; a smooth and seamless transition from the kitchen into the dining room with no beams or headers.
An oversized island and wall pantry unit with gorgeous granite tops give storage and preparation space once lacking. The now open concept allows natural light from all directions, complimented by the soft glow of the newest LED island, undercabinet, and recessed ceiling fixtures. Remodeling the adjacent guest bath improved the home’s value while giving additional storage by removing an under-utilized shower unit, which was replaced with double unit pair closets.
Guests are now heard AND seen, as this family looks forward to many cherished memories in their newly remodeled space!
